MY APPROACH

I prefer to get to know my clients before deciding which therapeutic approach is best for each person. No two people are alike and therefore one approach doesn't fit all, yet beginning with empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness provides the groundwork for meaningful growth and change. While the foundation of my approach rests in person-centered counseling, I also rely on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and incorporate mindfulness-based approaches as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy based techniques. I believe a strength-based approach is also important. Exploring the inherent strengths my clients possess is a helpful tool that allows them to make these qualities and virtues an asset in other areas of life.

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." - Carl Rogers, Psychologist and one of the primary founders of the Humanistic, Person-Centered approach to psychology
